Raidmax Aeolus Review

I’ve done reviews in the past about computer cases, but never really covered gaming cases. Today I bring you the Raidmax Aeolus, a fantastic gaming case for the user looking for a great design, and expandability.

The case features a full black metal construction with a plastic front for ventilation. A Window is located on the side for users interested in showing off their components with some fancy accent lighting. Speaking of lighting, 1 of the 4 included 120mm fans has 3 blue LEDs.

On the front panel, you’ll find the power/reset buttons, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 2 HD Audio ports, and 1 eSATA port. As mentioned earlier, you’ll also find the blue LED 120mm fan.

Expandability options are fantastic on this case. On the front panel you’ll find 3 5.25 inch drive bays with tooless drive locks, inside you’ll find 4 3.5 inch hard drive bays, and on the rear of the case you’ll find 7 expansion slots.

The case can hold Micro-ATX sized motherboards, and standard ATX power supplies. If you would like to install a bigger power supply, you can remove one of the hard drive bays.

One of the downfalls of this case is the method Raidmax used to hold the top exhaust fans. The clips simply don’t hold up to the size of the fans. You’ll find yourself having to push them back in place if you happen to bump the case and in some cases you might even what to use hot glue to secure them in place.

Another flaw I noticed was the side panel door. When I attempted to put the door back after removing it, I noticed it didn’t line up correctly. This proved to be a major flaw because in order to get it back in place, about 10-15 attempts were needed.

Overall rating: 7/10
