Intel 320 Series SSD Review

Watch on YouTube: Intel 320 Series SSD Review

Intel’s latest addition to the SSD market has proven to be an fairly good performer for the price. In fact, this is actually the lowest price/GB SSD available from Intel at the moment. The drive features 25nm NAND flash storage, and is compatible with  SATA II 3 GB/s interfaces.

As far as mounting goes, the Intel 320 Series SSD features a removable spacer that can be used to lower the drive’s hight from 9.5mm to 7mm. This is to allow easy installation in systems that require slim profile drives. If you would like to install this in a desktop system, be sure to have a 2.5’ to 3.5’ adapter on hand as this SSD does not include one.

The drive is available in various storage capacities. These include 40 GB, 80 GB, 120 GB, 300 GB and 600 GB. Please note that the read/write times will vary depending on the storage capacity. A CrystalDiskMark benchmark of the 300 GB version can be viewed below.

Overall, this is a pretty good drive for users looking for a low cost SSD. While it’s not the top performer at the moment, Intel has also released their new 510 Series SSD which is perfect for higher end builds.
